Takes a bit of patience to apply. You will need lots of coats for full coverage. But the result is EXCELLENT. Does not rub off easily. I still have it on after a full nights sleep wearing a tank top over it. Better to use a blot/twist motion with the sponge and then using the brush for details. Use just a tiny bit of water and blot with a paper towel before applying. My hubby painted a sunset on my belly for halloween, and I took 1st place in the costume contest. I'm VERY IMPRESSED!

This product allows you to paint colorful designs on your belly. It certainly does that. I had my friend, an artist, paint a beautiful Hamsa on my belly. The colors were initially vivid, especially when applied in multiple coats as instructed. My skin had no reaction to the paint, and it washed off easily in the shower later on.

The paint kit comes with a brush & a sponge, and the following colors: black, white, blue, pink, orange, red, green, yellow. The paint is applied with water. There is plenty of paint to decorate a bevy of bellies, or to paint yourself multiple times.

The downsides, if you want to see them that way, are that the paint doesn't stay on very long. It is only meant to decorate and bless the belly, photograph the results, and then wash it off. Over the next few hours, it faded like an old wooden carnival sign. I think this is an important note for anyone who thought they would paint something and wear it around all day. This painting kit is not meant for all-day wear.

My friend, the artist, also wanted me to note that the brush is not the best quality. She did a fine job but felt constrained by the materials. If you want a professional piece of artwork, you may want to get your own brushes. However, for the average person, it probably doesn't matter all that much.

A job catching pick-pockets at the local carnival, a stuffed whale being exhibited by Tony Prito and Biff Hooper and Mr. Hardy's latest case concerning a stolen ivory idol, send Frank and Joe onto a surprisingly exciting case. This mystery is filled with action and it has a rather interesting and well-thought-out plot. The Hardys are constantly coming into contact with the criminals during the course of the book and you are not always sure who is good and who is a member of the gang. One thing that I particularly like about this book is that, unlike many of the higher volumes, it remembers that Frank and Joe have friends and they are well-used in the book. It's not the greatest book, but I consider it to be one of the better of the higher volumes.

Some high points cannot offset weak plot lines, May 29, 2005

One of the key elements of the plot is a stuffed whale. That is a bit absurd, but it gets even worse when the whale is unearthed by Tony Prito's construction company. No mention is made of the condition of the whale, but it is hard to believe that it would be intact after having been buried for some time. The story is that it was part of a carnival that went bankrupt and they just buried the whale where it was.
The whale contains a carved ivory statute and there is a gang trying to recover it. They all have a tattoo of a whale, so that is the origin of the title. There is also a modern carnival, some heroics by Chet Morton in rescuing the kidnapped Hardy's and significant contributions by Fenton Hardy. The best part of the book stars Chet Morton. He consumes a record number of ice cream sundaes, which was made funny by him having a set of admirers. When Chet is preparing to consume the last sundae, he jogs around the block, followed by two admiring boys.
The remainder of the plot of the book does not remain viable. The names of the people are somewhat artificial, for example Fenton Hardy poses as a seaman and takes the name Spike Marlin. This is a flip of marlinspike, a tool used by sailors. Knocker Felsen is a tough guy who takes on the Hardy's and gets beat up. Therefore, while there are high points to the book, they are not enough to make the book better than weak.

A Great History As Well A Great Story About Tattoos, September 22, 2011

I was given this by a friend who shares my interest in the history of New York City. While I admire tattoos, I don't have any. But the story of New York City has always been of interest. This insightful, funny, touching and irreverent history of a subculture and unorthodox business in 20th century New York is something anyone can enjoy. Sure, my friends with tattoos like it because it gives a framework about how tattoos really started as a business in the US and some interesting technical and artistic details. But I loved it just because it's a tale well told. I didn't know about the diaspora of artists who left New York when it just became so lucrative to go elsewhere, how WWII played a role (of course), and what life in the Bowery was really all about. Moskowitz's story is ribald, hilarious and speaks to the human condition. What a good man. What a great story.

I purchased my copy during the pre-issuance sale. Last of the Bowery Scab Merchants delivers an exciting, humorous, and insightful listen on many levels. It is a historic documentary covering the advent of modern tattooing in the NYC area while providing a glimpse of a bygone era and fabled place in the rough and rowdy streets of the mid-20th century Bowery. It is also a tribute and interview between a caring son and his dedicated father who recounts the stories of his life as a tattoo artist, and though only mentioned in passing, in the face of his own mortality.

Included are two 78 minute CD's (presented mostly by Walter Moskowitz himself along with various tattoo professionals, authorities, and historians) and a 20+ page booklet with additional commentary, articles, and pictures - you get a lot for the money.

I was looking for a source of Japanese tattoos, but most books are collections of colored photographs that are not detailed enough to use in actually tattooing. These illustrations are crisp, clear, black and white, and you can always color the image later. However, it is too bad that the title will cause this book to be overlook by that vastly audience of people who are not specifically interested in tattoos, but are interested in Japanese demons and monsters and traditional Japanese art in general. This would also be a great resource for graphic artists.

As for the absurd claim that can't print them, you can do much more, and much easier: using the PC eBook reader and the Win 7 Snipping Tool, you can rip the image in one of several supported formats. Then you can re-size it, color it or do anything else you want. This is not an incitement to violate copyrights (in this case, these designs seem to be public domain), but it is legally no different than printing out an eBook page.

Buy it -- and give it as a surprise present to your friends!

I should state right away that this is NOT the popular novel, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," by Stieg Larsson. This work has a nearly identical title, but is by Karen Peebles.

I read the sample on Kindle and was not compelled to read further, especially since the sample was only three pages long. It makes me wonder how long the full work is. I do know that the book by Stieg Larson is 869 kb in ebook format, while this book is only 21 kb.

Perhaps I'll enjoy the author's next book, "I am the Girl who Played With Fire."

These are fine tattoos. Lots of cute and cool designs. Some may say it's pricy, but the big selling point 4 me is...Made in USA! not china. I want something that is going to be stuck on my child's skin, to be reasonably safe. All those cheap but plentiful tattoos 4 kids are made in china and who knows what they are being exposed to.

Bottom line, made in USA, safe, I'll stick with these by Dover.
