Tracing a global journey through the history and culture of tattoo art, this is a rich and provocative pictorial survey of an ancient art form that, until recently, remained hidden in our society’s cultural underground.

Get something that represents her island.

I’m from Guam and many islanders have tribal tattoos in the form of the island of Guam, a latte stone, or even a turtle. Check out the website I posted for some ideas.

you could represent the ex and her family with Polynesian flowers- flowers make great focal points in a tattoo or can create a background for the main image of the tattoo- think about using both colour mixed with black and grey this gives a tattoo more dimension. So, for example if you had polynesian flowers in black and grey with only one flower in colour the colour flower would then standout from the rest and could represent your ex nicely.
